John – Do Not Get Discouraged.
You have to be patient and keep working at it; remember ED recovery after surgery takes time, up to 2 years (or more). I believe for most guys the recovery is mostly a gradual process. There can be ups and downs; also common are instances of reaching a plateau and seemingly stagnating, before moving forward again. I have heard about light switch events, so they do happen, but they are the exception not the rule. The fact that you had success with your wife is a great sign for you, especially at 9.5 months.
Question for you: are you taking any meds to aid in your recovery? Does your uro have you on a penile rehab program? Your nerves were traumatized during surgery and need time to heal. During this 18 to 24 month period, you need to have erections to keep the erectile tissue healthy. Meds can help you to have these erections to keep your “boy” fit while you wait for the nerves to wake up. The longer you go without erections after surgery, the more likely you are to suffer permanent erectile tissue damage, called atrophy. So keep at it and don’t give up hope.
Best of luck to you -- Tigerfan
