Waiting for my biopsy to get done next week and results the following, yeah, i am nervous, but I'm not afraid of the disease, generally speaking, Because with a 4.3 PSA, i would think its still early enough, if , in fact, i am diagnosed. its the treatment that I'm more afraid of. I have no interest in AS, i'm just not built for it.

But with that said, what worries me the most, is PSA going from 2.7 TO 3.1, TO 4.3 IN 18 MONTHS -Is that considered a rapid rise that might be a sign of AGGRESSIVE DISEASE? This is a big worry i have

Also, is it not weird that my fPSA goes from 11, to 16, then to 12. Can i attach any inference from this?
Thanks in advance. I go back and forth between not being nervous, because i am able to focus on the expected early diagnosis (so that it wont "get" me) to being a nervous wreck at the possibilities. All i know how to do is come on here and ask questions (that i know can't be answered definitively, but hope to get some guidance on).

I went from 2.7 to 5.0 in 15 months. I then had 3 or 4 PSAs in short order (all 4.9 to 5.3), but my fPSA was all over the place. My biopsy had me right on the line between low and intermediate risk disease.

My older brother went from 8.1 to 11.2 in six months. Biopsy came out at G7 and he was staged at T1C.

After brachy treatment he dropped to 1.2 in sixth months.

Yes, it's a worrying rise but not much more than that - a rise. All it really means to me is that you've done the right thing by scheduling a biopsy. PSA alone is a poor indicator of what kind of PC you may or may not have.

Until a month ago I had no idea what my PSA was, but thankfully my doc checked it every 6 month - year on my bloodwork visits (I was worried at one time about cholesterol).

Mine went from 2.5 to 4.5 in about 10-11 months. The urologist I think, or i read, said there might be about 30% chance with that PSA volicity and count?

Anyway, the surgery scares me as well. Brachytherapy looks like a better and better choice but I'm not certain yet.

You will have time to sort it all out after your biopsy and you know more.

Pratoman,

I had a severe cancer at PSA = 3.7 (hence the name PSA3DOT7), and looking at my profile you'll notice a slight increase in velocity towards the end just prior to my RRP.

Hope the biopsy results are negative, all the best!

You are experiencing what we all experienced upon a rising psa, fear. Of course the fear obscures,but there it is. You will be a better person, when this bumpy ride is behind you. Hang in there!
