There is a lot of research now about
an assessment tool called "Decipher". You can read some studies about

There has been some good work to validate it retrospectively. For example, take the saved prostatectomy specimens from people who had their prostate out 5-10 years ago and profile them using the Decipher methodology, then you can compare the severity grade from the Decipher test with the clinical outcome. The research shows that this test adds predictive power over and above what comes from the traditional nomograms based on stage, grade, etc.
It is not yet part of routine clinical management but that is coming soon I think.
