Jim,
I see Dr. Myers who is one of the leading medical oncologists that specialize in prostate cancer. He has told me numerous times that most of his patients are dealing with prostate cancer at an age where they are also dealing with issues with heart disease and diabetes. Even for his more advanced PC cases, his patients are more likely to die from these two other factors than PC itself.
Therefore, a heart healthy, Mediterranean diet is what I do. I get most of my vitamins from food... eat lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts (almonds especially), olive oil, fish (especially salmon), chicken, turkey.... Limit my red meat, dairy, baked goods intake....I eat sugared items, but in moderation... Try to balance at each meal: carbs, protein, healthy fats. Jerry L.

What Jerry L. has summed up in his second paragraph echoes the recommendations from nutritional experts at Harvard, Tufts and Mayo, who can back up their advice with peer-reviewed, scientific research.
