Biopsy Done. Nothing to do now but wait.

Had my Biopsy today. My prostate is only 20 grams, so they only took 10 samples.

When they were numbing me, the left side, where the nodule is, hurt quite a bit. It was also quite painful when they took the samples from that side.

Had a funny, after we were done. They let my wife stay in during the procedure. She held my hand and it was nice to have something to squeeze. Once they were done, I started getting a little warm, and I said so. I was wearing my ball cap, so my wife took it off, and then I noticed her eyelids flutter. She nearly fainted. I was able to hold her up and she came back around. That made me forget everything, and I felt fine after that.

They said they should have the results by midweek.

Here's to waiting.

I wish you the best, sounds like you have a caring and loving wife. My poor wife didn't take the procedure on me very well either as my needle biopsy is what I now use to benchmark my pain level 10. I think that if she hadn't been driving me home she would have fainted too. Here's too a good reading on your biopsy . . . Q

Yes, waiting is the hardest part, but we on this forum have all been thru it. Try to keep busy and keep your mind off of it. It sounds easier than it really is. I kept thinking if the biopsy came back positive, then my life was over.....perhaps the cancer is incurable, perhaps I will be incontinent for the the rest of my life, perhaps I will never have sex again. I was only 58 at the time and my biopsy came back positive- life wasn't fair.

To make a long story short...I am now 62. My cancer is gone and I consider myself cured. No urinary problems at all and I have good sex whenever I want. Life is good! The operation wasn't bad at all. Two days in the hospital (my brother-in-law was there only one day!) and I was on my back fixing the bathroom sink trap at day 4! (not recommended, but that's how good I felt)

You may escape all of this if you get a clear diagnosis, but if it comes back positive don't think that all is lost! Take it one step at a time as you are doing. Good luck.
