Hi everyone. My dad has been diagnosed with ONJ from taking only 3 months of Xgeva. I am in looking to speak with others who have ONJ. Thanks!

That is timely. I was going to post something about xgeva and possible ONJ.

I have exposed bone and possible onj...I'll know more tomorrow...

What's your fathers story?

ONJ-Osteonerosis of the Jaw.

It's a rare side effect of certain bone drugs like Fosamqx, xgeva, etc...

Google it for more info or search in healing well...I posted something last week..

Do you mean osteonecrosis?

I am very familiar with this- happens a lot with patients with APS, the autoimmune disease I have and advocate for. Generally in hips and jaw but can happen anywhere.

I do hope its not this......

Maybe we can have ONJ added to the abbreviations list?

I had no idea its significance to Pca and treatments but have friends with APS suffering with it.....

That was one of the possible fears my VA dental surgeon suspected for me with all the radiation damage in my jaws, face, and teeth from the RT I underwent back in year 2000, after my 3rd bout of Porocarcinoma. Said I am at risk for it, and another reason why they insisted in all the hyperbaric treatments before my extensive dental surgery recently. I was given a good crash course on the subject by the surgeon, as he was considered the VA's most experienced doctor with it.
