I've known Tony for 8 years and admire the extraordinary efforts he has put forth on behalf of others as an advocate for men with prostate cancer and as a layman in his church. The easiest thing to do when you are diagnosed with advanced cancer is to board the Self-Pity train and, like Charlie on the MTA, never get off. Tony has shown his mettle by using his diagnosis and treatment as a springboard to help others in practical ways. Congratulations, Tony, on your Shining Star award.

Tony has fought a winning battle against PCa and a losing battle against a hot tub cover that had him in stiches.

Luckily our mutual friend the Clearwater Cowboy and his wife rid Tony of the stitches at GFMPH Florida.

Seriously Tony, keep on keeping on, well deserved shining star.

I was very humbled here by the award and by the comments here.

Thank you Jim Tud for posting but I wasn't going to do it. I have appeared on several TV spots through the years but always with the intention directed to our live group or the venue I was invited to.

To all at HW. I meant it all. Education is the key. It's time to become educated and not by just being here. You want to survive it at a low level you were never here. You want to do it at a medium level rely on the internet or reference. If you want to do it at a high level, take classes and understand the system.

if you want help, seek it.

Waylon was in my ears as a youngster. He was my mom's favorite at the time. I heard every album he did. Drove me crazy. But you know...

I've alway been crazy. It's kept me from going insane...:-)

Tim those words mean a lot to me. Thank you very much for them. Things are well at my church too. I have led the parish scripture studies for 6 years now. Up to 30 Tuesdays per year. I consider that my night off. :-)

8 years. Wow. We've been at this a while... You are a star here as well. Your encouraging comments are among the top here. I really do have a great friendship with you sir.

Jim, that was worth it to take that spill just to have that moment at Sonny's house in Florida.

Well OK that's an over statement. It sure wasn't fun acquiring 8 stitches. But because it was in the brow I have no scarring that you can see.

Tony my brother from another mother that was the coolest thing and I am so proud of you for doing what you do and being who you are. You are one that can most likely consider himself cured of this wretched disease and still you are out there every single day being an advocate for us thank you

Todd we talked about this at your house. I am very lucky in my health and in the friends I have met in my prostate cancer experience. While I am doing well, I know that can still change but so far it's looking good. But that isn't the reason I do the volunteer work. I like working in the community both live and online. It feels right and even though there are tough issues to take on, it is fulfilling. I am also very lucky to be able to be working on important papers and research because the medical panels and committees wanted me to help. That's actually some fun stuff.

Now to the real controversy. Are you guys ready to be hassled by a couple of pups when you get here?

Tony, I will be in San Jose CA over Christmas holidays and have not decided when to return to Florida via car. May route through Las Vegas with our couple of pups in tow.

Sorry, Todd, don't think we will be passing through your state, but know we will be previewing the site of April 2015 GFMPH, Brusly Louisiana (Baton Rouge for all practical purposes, home of Cajun Jeff and mama Pat)

Keep me posted. It's hectic around Xmas around our house but soon after I have a few days off and would be delighted to see you again. Your pups and my Aussie/Chow mix and the two 6 month old Golden Border Retrievers should be a fun mix. We can have a puppy party.
