So, looking back at some things, over the past couple of years, I realize I probably should have been a little more diligent about talking to my doctor about some things. Starting about a year and a half ago, I would occasionally (once every few months) get temporary but debilitating pain in my perineum. It would come on abruptly, usually, and last for 15 to 30 minutes or more, and then I would be fine again.
Reading through the forum, it looks like others have experienced this as well. I never got around to talking to my doctor about it because in two + years I've seen my doctor maybe three times. The episodes were sporadic and short lived, but it seems clear now that this was a sign of trouble.
I thought about it because I am feeling some slight pain there today. Nothing like some of the more severe episodes I've felt in the past, but enough to put me on edge. Aside from rupturing a disc many years ago, it is among the worst pain I've ever felt.
