Been awhile since I posted. I have trying to get back to "normal." It's been a year since my RALP. Incontinence has been minor but I still wear a pad. I have experienced slow but steady progress in the ED department. Low dose Cialis has had a positive effect. From the literature I understand that for my age group (Almost 65) it may take up to two years to get things in working order.

Last Tuesday I went to the orthopedist for a knee issue. He prescribed ibuprofen for a week. The next day I saw my Uro. He said everything looked good. They took blood for an ultrasensitive PSA but the results have not come in yet.

Everything was going great until Saturday when out of nowhere I started urinating blood with no other symptoms or complaints. It lasted about 18 hours and then it cleared. I attributed it to the ibuprofen. Then today it started up again. I called the Uro's service but no one has returned the call. I know that hematuria looks worse than it is but I am now concerned about the cause.

Finally spoke to my Uro. Thinks another kidney stone is on the way. Ironically, I kind hope he's right.

Ibuprophen would not cause bleeding. The stone would.

Hope it is an easy passage. Mine never were.

how long do they usually take to pass ? from time of the onset of pain

Good to hear from ou again. Glad things are going well, until this new issues hope it is just a stone and passes soon. My daughter has had two of these I. The last few years so I know that they are not fun, stay hydrated and flush that thing out. Hang in there,

Went to the Uro this morning. The ultrasound did not find any stones. Neither did an oblique x-ray. The gross hematuria has stopped since I started the antibiotic, Cipro. Next step looks to be a cystoscopy, not my favorite thing to get. Before my encounter with PCa last year, I sort of felt bulletproof. Now I feel vulnerable.

Looks less and less like a stone. At least my one year ultra sensitive PSA came back undetectable.

It's a funny old world, isn't it? where we get to say things like "I'm sorry you don't have a kidney stone."

That's not good. At least with a stone, you'd have some hope that it would, er, pass...

Hope they figure it out for you.

Hopefully it's something simple like a little infection.

Well I am in limbo so to speak. The hematuria does not appear to be from a stone but as I stated, the gross hematuria did stop right after I started Cipro. I am scheduled for a cystoscopy on New Year's Eve day. My Uro says that he has seen this type of delayed problem in post prostatectomy patients before. I surely hope that's it. I'm just not ready to deal with a second issue.

Maybe a bladder or kidney infection?  Hope Cipro knocks whatever it is out.

Had a cystoscopy on New Year's eve. I 've waited to report back here until I heard back on the path report. My Uro reported that there was an area next to the bladder neck anastomosis that he biopsied. It came back as papillary hyperplasia. He sent the specimen to Johns Hopkins for a 2nd opinion and it came back the same. He told me that we need to watch it and I will need another cystoscopy in three to four months. Some of these areas are pre-cancerous while others do not progress. Overall not a bad situation but it still another thing to be vigilant about. In the mean time my ultra sensitive PSA was undetectable!

Hey Scooterdu, good news on PSA, Hmm on the other. Hope it turns out to be nothing in the long run
