My husband had a PSA of almost 1900 at diagnosis four years ago. In the past he has achieved a PSA of less than 4 with some of his treatments. His current PSA is 50 and he is feeling pretty good and not it an undue amount of pain. I am wondering if anyone else has had similarly high PSA numbers? I haven't seen any in the signatures. Is his unusually high in comparison? We are thrilled when he get into the 20's. smilewinkgrin

I think there have been a few on here with PSA IN THE thousands at diagnosis.

I dont have a Dx yet, but my first ever PSA being a 460 shocked me. I have not started any treatment yet, but I am feeling rough right now and I want to get started.

128 PSA! After taking ADT2 for about 3-4 months, it's been at 0.1! I'm doing very well.

Mine was 5.0 and had about doubled in 3 years.

Todd1963's was something like 3200 when he was diagnosed. Widespread disease too. 9 years ago. His is undetectable right now. There's hope no matter what the diagnosis!

My husband was diagnosed this spring at age 45 with a PSA of 1200. He reached a low of 5 before it started shooting up again.

Mine was 4.5, and I could tell my primary doc was shook up about it since it rose from 2.5 to 4.5 in a year (I had been on T replacement therapy).

My local hospital offers free DRE and PSA tests once a year. Coincidentally, their free day was a couple weeks after my last appointment with my primary doc so I went and did theirs. The DRE was normal and I got a letter in the mail saying my PSA was 4.0 and the prognosis at the bottom was "Normal".

Luckily I kept my appt. for the biopsy.

3.9 with no symptoms and negative DRE. I actually asked for the biopsy just to be sure and the rest is history.

12.3 at dx, then 16.X 8 weeks later prior to surgery, it was on a fast climb at that point

My husbands psa was 14.7 in 8/14. It was 16 a month later

I was 9.4. This was my first PSA test ever, though I hadn't seen a doctor for a couple of years.

I was 4.6 and all DREs were clear up to the biopsy. And to think how uneasy I was with a 4.6 reading. I can't imagine having one that ran into double digits or triple digits and how I would have reacted. Until two years ago I had no idea readings could be so high.

147 for my husband. First PSA test ever at age 65. One year on Lupron and Casodex and it sits at .01.

I was misdiagnosed as very low risk and delayed my treatment for eight months to become vested in the better insurance plan at work. My PSA was about 7 at diagnosis and had risen to slightly above 8 when I had my RP.

How can a person get above 4.0 and not get a biopsy or be spoken to about it? These numbers make no sense to me at all unless its possible to jump from 4 to 1900 plus in 12 months.

Gary's first PSA test came in at 1900. The Dr couldn't believe it was correct, so it was redone twice to make sure. His family pract kept attributing his problem to his lower back herniated discs and never had a psa done, even though he had done a prostate exam 3 yrs earlier and noted it was slightly enlarged and Gary had complained of trouble urinating. We never did get a referral from this Dr and ended up going around him to finally get a dx... mad Grrrr!
