What was your PSA at Diagnosis

I feel your pain...I had Prostatitis symptoms way back in 2001 when I was only 41 years old.

Ran from Doctor to doctor and they ran every test imaginable to determine my source of fatigue and weird nightly heat flashes. During these years 2001-2008 I had a continuosly rising PSA at one point reaching 3.8 when I was only 48 (55 at DX) Mind you that these numbers may have been considered normal back then but any Urologist today will tell you that a man in his very early 40's with a PSA of over 1 needs to be further evaluated...Had many digital prostate exams since 2008 all found slightly enlarged gland but no alarms...Had 3 colonoscopies since 2002 (last one in 2012) due to gastro issues...Nothing ever said about possible prostate issues being the cause of my discomfort.

Imagine how shocked I was to find out that my PSA was 209 after a routine physical on 11/2014. Probably had the crap in my gland for close to 10 years until the horse finally escaped the stable. Even more sad and borderline criminal is that the Feds now advise that man under 60 years old do not get PSA's done. My Urologist told me that as a result of this, many men with advanced PC in their 40's and 50's will be the norm when it would have otherwise would have been caught if a yearly PSA was standard.

You really need to be very pro-active in this disease because if solely depend on your Dr's, I assure you that you will slip through the cracks in our broken health care system

Hi foxrun, I chose the percentage points in the lower ranges because they appear to make a difference as to whether or not the onc makes recommendations for added therapy or surgery from what I've read from other posts. Gary's onc has been rounding his PSA numbers for awhile now, as they are too high to worry about the tenth's. Your PSA seems to be very low and it seems you have this beast at bay. Congratulations!! I did notice that as your testosterone came back to normal levels when you quit the HT your PSA rose a bit as well. Correlation in that? And again, those are just small percentage points.
Hope it stays that way for you for a good long time!
