Hemorrhoid permanent treatment

I'm interested if anyone has had one of the permanent treatments:

- Band,

- Staple,

- Hemorrhoidectomy

And what about after radiation, particularly brachytherapy?

Hey there...I've had to deal with internal fissures, internal hemorrhoids, prolapsed hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, oh my=)

I've endured white knuckle pain, whether by cause or treatment.  The MOST painful was a thrombosed hemorrhoid, which I had cauterized (yep) in the doctor's office.  I had a hemorrhoidectomy in 2008, to basically remove a prolapsed hemorrhoid.  I thought the surgery would correct all issues.  The surgeon told me in recovery that he didn't touch the external because of the potential for nerve damage.  Huh?  In 2010, I saw a colorectal surgeon who removed "tags" via OP surgery in his office.

My brother had the banding procedure, but new ones formed.

Unfortunately, IME, the problem and the pain always return.  I guess if I had it to do over, I would have to "do it over" because I was in excruciating pain.  I still keep HC cream with prescription strength Lidocaine close by.  I have SO MANY digestive issues, my caboose is just one car in the trainwreck.

Perhaps others will share more happy endings=)

Dewayne, I've had hemeroids mostly internal but they seldom bother me. However, I had a situation once where I woke up with a freaking golf ball literally sticking out of. My ass. You could literally feel it by touching the seat of my pants, while I was standing up.
I was scheduled to leave for Aruba a week later, and went to my PCP, not knowing what it was. He gave me some cream and said to apply it for a week. After applying it for a day, I realized he was an idiot, and found a proctologist, who cut it out on the spot. It was so big, that he called his assistant (a hot blond) in to see it, while I was still kneeling on the floor like a Muslim in a mosque.

I had no problem after that and no pain.

Not sure how the HDR would affect this, but I am guessing your RO has run across this before and could probably refer you to a proctologist who is experienced in treating hemeroids in PC patients post rad.

I got some banded in Nashville over 20 years ago. Pain from the procedure was minimal, felt somewhat drawn from the bands for a couple of days. My wife drove me home after the banding, a two hour trip, but I could have driven myself, it just wasn't bad at all. Nothing to compare with the pain from surgery. I have had a little problem the last year following radiation but they have not come back anything like before.
