Penile Implant to treat ED

After 4 years after double nerve sparing surgery, with penile rehab which included the vacuum pump, penile injections, & ED medications I've become unresponsive to every form of rehab. I had to choose between living the rest of my life impotent or going for implant surgery.

My surgery date isn't certain, but if all goes well it will take place in the second week in January. I'm curious why the topic of penile implants is not a common topic found on PC forums. Erectile Dysfunction certainly is.

From my research I've discovered an implant is the most effective form of treatment with the highest patient satisfaction rates, yet it's the least chosen option to treat ED. If anyone has experience with this option, I'd sure like to hear from them.

Hello Rick,

We do actually have a few guys with implants here and we do talk about them somewhat. Franktalk.org is also a really good resource (they have a whole section on implants.)

I imagine some of the guys who have implants will be by to tell you their experiences.

For myself, I can only wish you well. I can really, really wish you well. Because I am probably about a month behind you. My surgeon's scheduler is working on February.

We will need to keep in touch. If the surgery suit isn't available on Jan 16th (I won't find out until Jan 9th)
my surgery will be pushed back until April. So you might jump ahead of me. I'll check out Franktalk. I'm familiar with them and I hope some guys from here will add to the discussion.

Rick, I had an implant almost 2 years ago now (if I recall correctly). I have been very satisfied with my choice - I have no anxiety about how sex will go now, which is very different from how it was before the implant. I kept a pretty detailed online diary of my recovery - I'll find it and post the link here shortly. It sounds like you have gone down the list of other options and (in my opinion) are wisely choosing the final option, which is the only one that worked for me.

My main comment to anyone considering - you are committing to this choice, there is no going back. But for me I have NO regrets.

I have a ams malleable 650 install in April 1992 and it still working. It just the basic one you raise it up
to do your business and lower it down when you finish .

Yeah, so far my success with any method has been nothing to write home about. I am only in my 11th month, but with no particular effort to spare nerves I'm not expecting a big improvement further out. So, I have to decide if keeping some sort of sex life going is worth another surgery. But it seems to me that if that answer is "yes, it is something worth keeping going", then an implant is the likely solution.

With a slowly increasing PSA after SRT, it looks like HT is in my future. Although I don't know how this will turn out - if the tables were turned, and my wife were able to have intercourse but not enjoy it - it would mean a lot to me if she were still willing to please me. Therefore, I am determined that when I start HT, although I may have no desire, the implant will enable me to still be there for her. Just another consideration...
For me, it is something worth keeping going. And prior to HT, I am thoroughly enjoying it.
