Considering for robotic surgery for removing cancer - Singapore

My father age is 75
PSA: 22 ( having medicine for last 5 yrs) Recently diagnosed of prostate cancer

Even though he is 75 but he looks like 65 . ( kept himself healthy looking for his age)


Prostate cancer (localized; on left side only; not spread)

Prostate gland enlarged

Considering Robotic surgery to remove the prostate. He is traveling to Singapore to be seen at Singapore General Hospital the cost is around USD $40,000.( he is not from USA).

Any recommendation about doctors/hospital in Singapore who is good in robotics cancer removing procedure.?

Also is it possible to get consultancy from the doctors in USA without traveling with his medical record?

What is the total cost if he does it in USA? ( no medicare as he is not a USA citizen)

Have you considered Australia?
A top surgeon is Dr Stricker - he has done about 700 robotic surgeries and if I remember all the medical bills together came to about AUD$35000 before insurance. This is about USD28000.

I know that Singaporeans have a very low rate of getting prostate cancer in comparison to Australians so since surgical competence is built on numbers of surgeries I would imagine Australia to be a good option.

I would support An38's suggestion of Phillip Stricker in Australia.

He is probably the best known prostate surgeon in Australia and has operated on many well known public figures, many of whom provide endorsements on his web site.

I know several people who used him and all are very happy with the result.

Not sure if we are supposed to provide web site addresses but if you Google his name or just input his name and add .com.au you will get his web address.

He also offers a very usefull on line second opinion. You will find that option on his web site. When I was diagnosed, I completed the information and he actaully phoned me and we had a very good discussion. The problem was that he had been overseas and by the time he got back to me, I had already settled on a more local surgeon.
