That's a very good pathology report. The upgrade to Gleason 7 gives it a bit of gravitas that you may need later. At some point you are likely to find yourself limp and leaky -- angry with your surgeon and tempted by regret. It's a phase that most of us go through. Hopefully it won't last very long but you will wonder why you thought it was a good idea to do this to yourself. All you will need to do is re-read your pathology report and that Gleason 7 will give you an answer to those uncomfortable questions you are pondering.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Try not to get impatient with the continence thing. It can take a while sometimes.

It's almost perfect.

Mine went from a G3+4 to a G4+3; going from a G3+3 to a G3+4 is still okay. No margins is great.

Usually they wait awhile before doing a PSA.

That will be your next nerve-wracking experience.

But you should be very happy.

Now you also know what it is to be incontinent. That's was hard for me to fathom. I was also able to stop and start my stream immediately. I noticed that many with real bad stubborn problems in that area had gushers to start with. Yours should resolve fairly soon. Mine did in about 2 weeks, although I stopped wearing the pads after 4 weeks (the last 2 weeks were just for security).

Its good, your nurse was right about PNI, if it was in biopsy it is prognostic because it could lead to positive margins, hence, hence…. Yours was organ confined, which means it stayed in the gift box, which still had the capsule around it undisturbed. If you are looking for trouble, {your not , based on Epstein decision}, plenty folks here,as well as ,anecdotally, some medicos, think it is prognostic whenever you find it. their logic being, it must be, how do you explain BCR for those with clean path. Kinda like when the cops focus on one perp from the jump and stop investigating. Stop investigating, in this case means no trials on this point. How hard would it be. I "assure" you their are far fewer BCR's postop for surg guys, than there are PNI in the the surgery ranks. But it must be right cause so and so said so.{myself included} Use the Force Prato, use the Force…. Congrats on a job well done, now rejoin the living and forget this crap. Its butter….. PS your incontinence will be very short lived, you have control now, you just are missing the old cues to hold it in.

Congratulations!! The removal of Cathy is a great day!! Your situation is very similar to mine. I'm 5 months out. 99% dry!!
When I had my 1st PSA draw, I asked if the lab would fax me the results. The draw was 1 week in advance of my Uro appt. I received the fax at home the next day and PSA was undetectable!! 3 months later I had PSA draw 2 on a Friday and asked again for a faxed result. Fax rang at 5am Saturday morning with my 2nd ZERO!
Instant gratification!

It was great to get those results so quickly and not have to think about it for a week waiting for my appointment. You may want to do the same.

Prat, Wazr, my number are right in line with yours. Here's hoping I have a similar success story when my time comes.

Great news, Prato. That is a fantastic pathology report. Almost identical to mine (except mine was 10% involved, and smaller overall prostate volume, most likely because of my age).

Continue doing lots of walking to improve overall recovery from the surgery. Walking will be much easier now without the cath, obviously.

Congrats Prato. I was pretty much dry after the first week and after 10 weeks am in control of my pisser. It gets easier everyday. Dont ever 2nd guess your decision, I never have. Seeing your posts helps me relate to where I was a few weeks back and where I am today.

Sorry Ben. For what it's worth, I looked at pubmed and there are studies that say it matters and studies that say it doesn't.

Also, it was just a comment made by the nurse.
Didn't mean to get you worked up, that's the last thing I wabted to do. I wouldn't be too concerned. You are on your way to treatment And you have low grade disease.

Also your uro's are right, it has not been proven, as evidenced by the conflicting studies.

So there it is - I'm sure the nurse was not fully informed with updated info.
