Long Term LDR Brachytherapy Results

Can any respond with details of their LDR Brachytherapy results from a ten year or older procedure - both for long term effectiveness of the procedure itself and any incidence of SE's.

Works, I think I am the most senior LDR Brachy member who is fairly active. I'm at 6+ years with wonderful results, i.e. cure and no SE's other than reduced ejaculate. You can read my long winded journey by copying and pasting the link in my signature.

I know of one more senior member who was the spouse of a 2006 LDR "graduate". She is Just Julie who doesn't post much anymore. One of her updates is here in this link.

I'm coming up on 5 years. I can tell you that I am thrilled that my oncologist uses the 'cure' word when referring to my former pc. I am totally continent, but I can give myself some anxious moments if I overdue it on the alcohol. Most importantly to me, my sex life has never been better, and it is for that that I am most grateful. I will tell you that while I don't always need viagra, I always use it because it is pretty darned amazing. Just want to be honest.
Prostate cancer is little more than a distant memory for me right now, and I am deeply grateful to be able to say that.

Works Out - unfortunately it's very unlikely that you'll find guys that had LDR BT over 10 years ago, here on HW. One of the main reasons you also don't see many BT guys posting here is that they have their treatment, no issues, and simply move on. . . .

Treated almost 6 years ago. No issues what so ever and psa <.1

I think Yoop is right in that BT is not a big deal, a 1 hour procedure and a few weeks of urinary discomfort. I've had backache that lasted longer than that. We tend to concentrate on things that change our lives and most BT patients see little change and consider their cancer just a small bump in the road that deserves little attention.

I am at 5 years now since diagnosis and a little under 5 years for treatment. I have no regrets at this point about my decision.

my older brother had LDR 2 years ago and is doing very well - he rarely even thinks of PC anymore. Never hear him complain about side effects (and yes, he complains loud about everything that hurts).

I would also like to see some posts from those with that data, but I agree with A Yooper's post that they move on and apparently are doing great. I'm at the 3 year point myself, and don't post much anymore. Couldn't be happier with my chosen treatment. My last PSA a couple of weeks ago was .14 .

One of my business partners had Prostrcision (LDR seeds and adjuvant EBRT) in 2002 (nearly 13 years ago) at about age 60.   I do not know the details of his diagnoses other than G7.   We trade results and information from time to time.   He remains undetectable PSA (checked yearly).   He says he has no side effects from the treatment and figures he is cured.

I had my LDR seeds planted yesterday and have just posted my experiences so far. I cant say any more than I have at the moment, but my intention is to keep updating here with my progress. I have made too many good friends here just to up and leave right now. I feel that I want to give something back to new members.
