If he is into engineering we have toys and the tools of the trade for most of the specialties: optics, acoustics, piezoelectrics, combustion, dark sky, lasers, radio, nature, etc. It really can be like adult science day camp for some. You'd be surprised at some of the projects.
And the conversations are wonderful. We have a campfire (or two) going every night, consuming enough wood to raise sea level a measurable amount.
For the past two years 142 has hosted a scotch tasting that covered the spectrum. (I am not a scotch drinker or a cigar smoker so unfortunately it all tasted like fire to me. I learned so much listening to him. I can now say with certainly that I am not a scotch drinker. )
Also we're not joined at the hip. There are no walls or fences. People are free to come and go and sightsee as they wish. The meals are great but it is the company that really makes the event wonderful.
That is why people keep coming back and stay so long.
My wife is a Saint! So are my neighbors!
It's a cheap, easy vacation with a twist, not unlike a rotini noodle.
