New Member "sue saddened wife" : PSA rising (3005) after two tx xofigio. What's next?

Good afternoon ladies,

Thought I would throw out a couple of ideas for you all to chew on...we had Frank's appt. with medonc today before docetaxel cycle #6. The last two visits we have been discussing what will come next so Frank is
scheduled for bone and CT scans before final decision is made. BUT, I have been reading quite a bit about
the new parp-inhibitor olaparib, manufactured by Astra-Zeneca. This has shown quite good results for men with advanced prostate cancer, both with and without the BCRA gene mutations, though sample size was small. They are currently recruiting in USA/Canada for phase II olaparib with/without abiraterone. Our medonc thinks this is something we should pursue and is seeking approval for BCRA gene testing from our insurance company. There is some thought that men that go castrate-resisitant as quickly as Don and Frank did...might be suggestive of DNA repair mutations, if not specifically BCRA. Medonc also plans on pursuing the ability to adminster the study at his office so we wouldn't have to travel. What a gem we have for medonc!
So, maybe this is something that would work in the "what next"? quandary that you both are facing?!?

I got the well Daves cancer is probably progresing and when it gets to the point his cells can't rebound...I find him the oncologist defeated and really when I look at it realistically what they have done is not much ! Prostvac drug trial, 6 failed rounds of docetaxel , 2 months of horrible xtandi, and the 4 xofigio . So he has till Wednesday to come up with something ! Anything! Did not see this coming today ...OMG felling so stressed and helpless all at the same time .

Sorry i havent been around. Just caught up with everyone. whew. We are still in the calm before the storm. After 18 months on Lupron, nick is going to take a holiday which should start in june. We will see where the PSA goes. But he is still doing well. Happy as a clam. I know the clock is ticking. So it is life to the fullest every day.
