Congratulations on a healthy baby boy!
Welcome from another 40 something. You didn't get the best news but it could have been much worse. I had coffee today with a guy I met on this forum and he had similar stats as you. He had surgery a year ago and other than a few minor side effects, he doesn't even think about Cancer any more. His PSA is undetectable and he is on no other treatments.
You are in the very early stages of this and it can be daunting. But it gets better. It does. And you will have choices to make about your treatment(s).
It sounds like you are in good shape. I'm not a fan of BMI tables either since they don't really account for body type, etc. But, if you end up needing certain treatments like radiation and/or ADT, you will want to keep up your strength and aerobic training to stay strong and fight back against the effects. As mentioned above, Mediterranean style diet can provide some benefits and help to drop down to a leaner weight, which I would recommend.
This must be a very emotional time for you. I hope you can focus on some of the incredible positive energy you have around you with your new baby. I had a child just 3 months before I had a heart attack at 36. Having family around and the excitement of another mouth to feed catapulted me to a quick recovery with a focus on a healthy lifestyle.
You found a good forum here to vent, ask questions and share information. I guess I'll see you around!
Take care,
