Hello !
I am currently on the 4-month Lupron shot. My oncologist has been measuring the testosterone level during the course of the 4-months.
We are finding that my testosterone is spiking up somewhat after 2 or 3 months into the 4 month Lupron shot, which then seems to result in a rise in PSA. Is this normal during the course of the multi-month dosage shots of Lupron ?
His thinking is that my testosterone and PSA would be better CONTROLLED if we try giving the Lupron shot every MONTH, rather than the 4 month shot.
Is there any merit to this idea ?
Would the testosterone level and PSA potentially be better controlled if I switch over to a 1 month Lupron shot vs. the 4- month shot ?
Seeking input and background on this from any of you with knowledge or expertise.
My thanks to you all,
Cyclone

I was on Lupron/Eligard for three years. Since this was planned I used six-month shots for the convenience. My T went immediately to 3 and my PSA became undetectable. Neither varied during the treatment. I was also on Avodart (Jalyn) to control the DHT. Are you on Avodart? To get a complete Androgen blockade you should also be on Avodart.

my oncology dr, has me on Lupron also, but he gives you the 4 mo shot, EVERY 3 MOS, and that seems to take the spikes out, as at the end its wearing off, like 3mos and 8 days will be my nx shot keny
