Faustmann, you see a lot about
the whole alkaline approach. I have not yet read PDA's links, or any of the others, but I plan to.
Do you have PC? If so, what are your Gleason scores, PSA and DRE results? IOW, do you have a good bit of time to mess around with this?
If you could somehow get the PC cells to turn alkaline inside or be surrounded by a more alkaline pH, then maybe I could see it. But it has always been my understanding that the body fights hard to maintain the overall pH, as measured in the blood gasses, within a very narrow range. I'm not sure you can vary it that much for any period of time no mater what you do, at least with diet.
For example, with a patient on a ventilator during surgery- or maybe during resuscitation during cardiac arrest, we would adjust the respiratory rate to compensate for acidosis. If breathing is not adequate blood CO2 goes up and blood pH goes down(=more acidic). Increasing the ventilation makes things more alkaline.
If you are breathing on your own, and your blood gets a little acidotic(pH dropping), your breathing rate will subconsciously increase to blow of CO2 and raise the pH back up to a less acidic, more alkaline level. You probably won't even know it's happening unless your acidosis is extreme, and then you might be hyperventilating.
Point is, I'm just not that sure you can significantly change the bodies pH long enough by ingesting something to hurt cancer cells, if indeed that would actually hurt cancer cells. If you could change the pH much and keep it there, it might kill you. But am I sure of that? No. (EDIT: I meant: I am pretty sure if you could change pH much it would hurt or kill you, I'm not sure about
the next sentence) Do I know that it can not change pH enough- even if minutely- to help? I don't. It does sound challenging though, but you never know. I don't think I would let it sway me from other needed treatments, all depending on your Gleason etc. But if you can experiment with it without also being hurt by it- and without it delaying or interfering with other needed treatments, then let us know how it goes. Also, I would research the heck out of it first and try to talk with others who have done it. Be careful! I know nothing about
what you are asking about
, except this thread, but it does sound a bit suspect to me. But there is a lot of debate, including here, about
a lot of things, like over at the "Plea for AS" and many other threads.
(Edit 2: Please excuse huge amount of typos in this thread and all others. My keyboard had been going razy lately, with many delays after I press a key and many letters in words being left out even though I hit the keys. I correct them when I see them)
