Well as many of you know, I have spent the past two weeks out here on the West Coast to help support my brother and his family during his RALP surgery and initial recovery. I flew in the day prior to his surgery, and slowly will be making my wAy back home today. In one word his is simply doing GREAT! I am amazed when I compare his recovery to my own, how well his is getting around, eating real foods, and his mobility. Now if we can just keep him from leaving his doughnut cushion behind every where we go we will be doing good.

He is in great spirits and his family and friends are there to support him. I am not sure that I was much help or assistance other than moral support and comedic relief? I am happy that I was able to make the trip and be here for them. Although we have had the worst weather both snow wise and record low temps since my departure my family will be glad when I return to take care of things at home.

I just wanted everyone to know how well Eric is doing and that Cancer once again picked the wrong guy to mess with! Thanks to everyone on here who has supported Eric and his family, it is the awesome members of this forum who make getting through these life changing ordeals bearable. Thank you.

I love you little brother and glad that you are doing so well. Talk to you soon.

Thanks, brother. Hope it thaws out a bit by the time you get home. Another spring-like day here. that helps with the recovery too.

Eric-- Glad you are progressing well. I wanted to mention I just checked into your blog and was very moved by your gracious self-compassion and strength, as you confront multiple disease states. It aint easy. One thing I have learned, and not via an easy journey, is that the true warrior is one that confronts with honesty and openness the most difficult and real situations within your life. It's a struggle for sure, but it is also the best path....so very freeing... providing you with the absolute natural opportunity to deal with all aspects of challenging times, not only for yourself but to realize enhanced compassion for other human beings. That indeed is a life well lived. Keep progressing every day and thank you for your BLOG.

BTW--what city/area of the country do you pursue your theatre criticism?

Strangely, it was my decision to talk to my doctor about my battle with depression that lead to my PCa diagnosis.

I live in the Portland, Oregon metro area and co-host a weekly radio show / podcast about theatre. We have been reviewing plays for the past two years and are transitioning to mostly interviews of theatre artists.
