I got my biopsy results yesterday from my urologists office. All 14 cores, including the ones from the MRI indicated suspicious area, were benign. I am absolutely thrilled, of course!!! Thank you all for your kind words of support.
So I'm one of those guys whose PSA, age adjusted PSA, PSA velocity, Free % PSA, PSA Density and MRI all indicated a strong possibility of Prostate Cancer with clear results. There is a lot of talk about over diagnosing and over treating prostate cancer. From my perspective, after three years and three negative prostate biopsies.....even with all of the emotional stress that that entails.....I am grateful for the opportunity to BE tested and KNOW that I have a clean bill of health right now. I don't regret any of the tests nor do I feel as though any of my doctors acted with anything but my best interest at heart. I am grateful that we know enough to test early and with better knowledge every day how to find and treat prostate cancer.
I armed myself with knowledge during the last three years and much (maybe most) of that knowledge came from many of you here. Thank you for doing what you do and supporting each other through your individual experiences. You have another advocate here in me. I still believe that early detection, with all of it's imperfections, is the best weapon we have and I will do my best to encourage the men in my life to get tested and, if needed, be their own best advocate during treatment.
