Occasional blood in urine post-catheter?

I'm about eight days out after pulling the catheter out and had some initial occasional blood and clots come out when urinating which I expected. Then went several days with no blood in my stream but just yesterday had a small clot and a little bit of what looked like old blood. Just now at the beginning of the stream I had about one second of again what looked like old blood (a very muted dull reddish color.)

Is this normal? My joints have been hurting so much I took some ibuprofen 24 hours ago and again this morning. Now I'm thinking taking the ibuprofen was a mistake.

I would at least contact your surgeon and let him know about this....I developed similar symptoms about a year after surgery..A Cystoscope exam found a small bladder stone which they removed on the spot and no more blood in urine after that.....

ibuprofen is a blood thinner but this far out from surgery I wouldn't think it would matter.

Likely it's nothing to worry about, but best to put a call into the doctor just to confirm.

I agree with Andrew, and I think its pretty normal.

My Dr told me that blood can come and go for up to 8 weeks. He specifically said you could go weeks without blood and then for no reason you might pee blood. I peed blood (not on and off) for about 3 weeks after cath removal. Then I was peeing blood clots for over a month after that, usually at the beginning and/or end of the stream, and more so right after I got off the treadmill.

I wouldn't worry at all, sounds totally normal, but if it bothers you, its worth a call to the doc.

14 months from surgery and I had blood and not just clots, felt something pop in my penis, then blood.

Doc did a cystoscopy didn't find anything and he said don't worry about it, probably just a stone.

I feel he just blew it off cause he didn't immediately find anything.

Blood in urine is fairly common for several weeks post prostate surgery. Even after that you might see small clots or even bits of stitches flowing out when you urinate. It doesn't take much blood to color the urine reddish. But if you see a lot of bright red blood then you should call the urologist.

I agreed with the others, clots & small traces of blood are quite normal
I have that too during my surgery recovery period, after morning long walks

Ah - most excellent guys, thanks so much cool . Had a couple of clots come out today as well which all sounds perfectly normal. Phew.

John, I recall going to the surgeons office for my 6 week follow up and first PSA blood draw. I was feeling ok, and had not seen blood or clots in a few days for the first time. Wheni got to the office, my bladder felt like it was gonna explode. So before checking in, I went straight to the mensroom, feeling really good that I was able to hold it.

Started to pee and almostv immediately, felt my pecker pop (say that 7 times fast). I looked down and saw that I had just passed the biggest clot ever. I was glad it was sudden and unexpected, because I would have been nervous, had I known.

So it does, as. Said in my earlier post, come and go

LOL Prato - just passed a big one yeah. I've been amazed at how strong my stream is, I can empty my bladder in a few seconds instead of a minute or more. I told my wife I'll have to see how far back from the potty I can stand and still hit the bowl ("you better not.")
