Other thread was getting way too long.
Went to VA today. Had ultra sound done of both kidneys, part of liver, and was suppose to be bladder too. Most of the time was spent on the right kidney. Left me very sore from being probed and poked around there. Was told my creatinine levels were off the chart (not a good thing). She also said she could see a lot of bile blockage in my liver (also not a good thing). She marked at least a 12 things on the right side, and only about 4 on the left side. Was told they will be doing more extensive scan of the liver at a later time, but for now, biggest concern was the kidneys.
The lab drew 3 more tubes of blood, repeating the kidney and liver panels, plus special tests for sugars, proteins, and one other thing (forgot already).
Was given a large plastic jug with instructions. Sunday morning, need to change my Urostomy device, start clean. Then empty every drop for 24 hours into the jug from my bag. The jug needs to be kept in a cooler surrounded by ice if possible. Then at 10:30 Monday, back to the VA, to give them the jug, and to have two of the blood tests repeated on the spot, so that they can compare the readings from today.
They moved my VA PCP meeting from 11 to 2:30 Monday, to give them time to analyze the urine and to get all the blood tests back. So when I see the doctor, he should have the scans and blood tests in his hands that have been done the past 3 weeks.
Worse fear is kidney cancer. My total lack of appetite (over a year now), the massive weight loss, extreme fatigue (been so much worse since January of this year), are some of the obvious symptoms of kidney cancer. Don't worry, not trying to diagnose myself, but something has to explain all of this stuff.
Meanwhile, waiting to see what the scans showed with the growing growth behind my right eye socket, and the place in my left cheek, near the jaw bone.
So that's 3 areas of great concern, hoping these are not new cancers I will have to deal with. But if any or all of them all, I want to know, so that something can be done while there is time to do it. This not knowing, is starting to get to me, I can only distract myself so much. No way one can just put these things completely out of their mind, least I can't.
The kidney thing is my primary concern, because the creatinine numbers don't lie, and from all I have read, this is not a good omen of things to come. I have no indications of having a kidney infection, which would be the easiest thing (kind of ) to deal with.
So I have to sweat out still another weekend of wondering what is going on inside me. The scan operator jokingly said that from looking at my bones and ribs, I looked like I was an Ethiopian. Wasn't all that funny, told her my weight loss was not a healthy one.
So we will see. Life goes on. Meanwhile, I still have prostate cancer, unchecked at this time. But for whatever reason, that is the least of my concern.
Will report anything once I know early next week. It's possible with the eye and cheek issues, they may have to do a biopsy next of each area, even if the scans show up something.
