What does “X-year survival rate” mean?

 

The survival rate refers to the percentage of patients who are alive at least X years after their cancer is diagnosed, but my cancer treatment lasted for 20 months. So does the calculation for the survival rate start when I was diagnosed or when my 3 treatment plans were completed?

I think it depends on the study you are referring to. Sometimes they talk about survival post treatment, sometimes it's after some key diagnostic point. You have to look at the study.
