Now that we know via solid scientific evidence that pomegranate works against prostate cancer, the next question is how do we know that pomegranate supplements actually contain any pomegranate?

I have a small amount of Gleason 3+3. My last 3T MRI is the same as in 2010. Everyday, I take green tea 500, pomegranate 250 and vitamin D3 1000.

So far, my cancer has not progressed. Are the supplements the reason? I don't know, but they are inexpensive and well worth taking.

Here's a study I found on pubmed. One of the few on live people. Most of what I see are "trials" in a Petrie dish, exceptions being the one tHat Yoop posted and this one, that seems to conflict with the conclusion in the other study.

Not advocating or discrediting Pomegranate for PC, just pointing out the conflict I constantly seem to come across in studies on PC and diet/alternatives/supplements...

The one thing that seems to be consistent in everything I've found so far, is that there have been no reported adverse effects, so I suppose no harm in taking it.

Anybody aware of a USP verified brand of Pom?

If that's where it took you, I guess I did. I'll never find it again LOL.
It basically showed no difference in doubling time between 2'arms, a placebo and an arm taking Pomegranate . Sorry guys.

Like I said, it does seem like it can't hurt and there are legitimate studies showing positive results, so I may take it. I stopped in my local Rite aid today, they didn't have it (actually 2 different stores). Is it only sold mail order?

Regarding the link above which was incorrect, here is a correct link, not to pubmed, but to another site that published the trial abstract...

I decided to send an email to the MD that ran the study, seeking more info, asking about other studies, etc. I did this in consideration of the fact that the study was run in 2006.
I got a response today, which follows:

"The only large clinical trial that is published was by Carducci et al, published one or two years ago. We have completed a randomized study that we hope to have published shortly. I still have a handful of patients on our original study for over 10 years with stable but elevated PSAs. My overall impression is that there are genetic variations that lead to greater or lesser benefits from taking anti-oxidants"
