Some things my surgeon never told me....

- I would become closer to my wife than I ever have been.
- A trip to the urinal would require a scavenger hunt.
- Working ~60 hrs/week will no longer be in the game plan.
- A night out with beers will require a bedtime pee pad.
- I would happily pay $16 to be intimate with my wife.
- It's 3 to 4 months to resume normal activities not weeks.
- I would no longer think adult diaper jokes are funny.
- I would feel so anxious about a PSA blood test.

I guess he did say there would be a "new normal", maybe that's what this is.

I am feeling dizzy - a whole new line of tee-shirts and bumper-stickers are forming in my mind...

That happened to me in those early months and I always said surgery made me stronger. Prior to surgery there was no way I could even bend my erections. Post surgery I could tie "willey" in a knot. Most didn't know how to react because I always told them this straight faced and serious yeah

Yeah boy...I hear that. That's why I'll remain on AS until the last gun if fired so to speak. Sure there are some guys that do way better..but mostly not. There is no good treatment as far as a I can tell.

Graytech, this is my first post. I block selected your profile and could almost use as my own. Love your posts, I have never laughed at myself more than since surgery. A lot has happened to me that I used to tell my wife (usually after seeing tasteless commercials): "If that evers happens to me, just shoot me." Thank God she never listens to me or I'd be a dead man. Laughter is the best medicine. Good luck on PSA.

Nothing like being out somewhere and having your wife complain about something. Last night we were in a store and she complained about her feet aching. I told her I'd take it, "cause I am having a jail break right now." (My new, post-surgery glossary, "jail break" = peeing myself)

Welcome AEK. Sorry you have to be here. It does appear we are in the same boat, let's hope for a great outcome.

Great bunch of folks here with lots of knowledge. Knowing what to expect along the way was a tremendous help to me in dealing with both the docs and recovery.

There truly is nothing like talking to a young, attractive store clerk and having a massive "jail break" at the same time. I read something like that here before I had surgery and said, "...Nah-won't happen to me..." Well at least I was fortunate to have it well contained.

I thought I was indestructible. My friends called me the "Highlander" - never sick & injuries quick to heal. Well, well, well, they say the sure way to make God laugh is to start believing you got it all figured out. It's also said that "God has a sense of humor". And, nothing could be more true. Just about everything I've joked, or been irreverent about has nailed me all at once - which I can't help but laughing about in itself. Even Kegel's! The last time I came close to whizzing myself (Pre-DaVinci) was in LeMaas class expecting our first child (24 yrs ago). Just watching that chubby, earthy instructor on all fours doin her Kegel's - well, I just lost it - which made my wife lose it - which, at 7 mos pregnant, made her break wind - a deafening roar which made the entire class lose it - which caused 3 of the pregnant classmates to wet themselves. As we left class I said to my wife: "there goes my run for class President, let's get the hell out of here." We've laughed about Kegels for 24 years. Well, when my surgeon told me I needed to start doing Kegel's. I went home & told my wife "that's it! Now, he's really getting a big ol' kick outta himself now!" She asked, who & what? I said "God! I gotta do Kegels!" Too funny.

It's nice to finally be off the bench and a participant. While none of us would chose to be here, it's really nice to be a member of this club with some really nice folks. Certainly does help dealing with this bump in the road - having it in common with others. In the end, despite all the BS, I'm darn grateful to have this P-cancer, and not the other P-cancer.
