Perhaps what we are seeing with the mouse studies has something to do with the Law of Conservation of Luck. The reason we aren't as lucky with cancer cures are mice seem to be is that our doctors won't be cutting off our heads with scissors to see if the treatment worked. The mice are luckier, earlier, but fate catches up with them in the end.
