Chondroitin and Glucosamine and PC

Hey guys, A question has come to mind:

Is there any potential downside from a PC perspective to taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin for arthritis?

What have others either seen in the literature or heard from their PC specialists?

Yes. Dont take Chondroitin. I have read, and others here have mentioned, that it is not a good thing, as far as PC is concerned. You can find Glucosamine pills without chondroitin. Schiff makes it, and i'm sure others. I bought it at Duane Reade

Only one other caution on glucosamine: it often comes from the shells of shell fish so if you have an allergy there you could have issues.

I only mention that because my wife is sensitive to Glucosamine and sometimes gets an allergic reaction to it. At the moment she's not taking it. Most people don't have an issue, but a small percentage do.

She also wasn't 100 percent sure that it was really helping her. Just some points of interest.
