After18 Doctor visits and many twists and turns, I'm getting seeds implanted at Sloan Kettering this Friday, July 10th. I would be interested in any suggestions to improve recovery. Also what will it be like when I wake up? Much appreciation and thanks. God Bless.

You will wake up after an hour and experience about the same as you did when you got a biopsy, but instead of the symptoms lasting about 4 hours they will last a few days. You will have unary frequency having to go about once an hour; this may last a few weeks.
Taking FlowMax is a very good idea and also high dose Ibuprofen for a few days to reduce the swelling. You will be uncomfortable for a few weeks, but it should not affect your daily activities or work. I had no problem playing golf the next day and going for a 3 day car ride two weeks later. On long rides a pee bottle in the car is a life saver. Good idea to take Metamucil as you can get constipation from seeds, which is not fun.

I was a little out of it right after my procedure but that's generally the way I react to IV sedation. I popped a couple of Vicodin that night and felt pretty good the next day except for the drug hangover. I was playing tennis in a couple of days and waited two weeks for sex. Flomax did the job on urgency and frequency. I was lucky enough not to have the constipation issues.

Basically, it was pretty much a walk in the park and I was back to normal activities very quickly.

The first 24 hours it burns to pee. Other than that I had no problems short-term.

You may have some minor issues with discomfort during urination for a bit, but after it is all said and done, you will thank your lucky stars that you made the decision that you did.

This Thursday marks the 3rd anniversary of being given the wonderful news that I had prostate cancer, can't believe it's gone by so quickly. I continue to do extremely well, no side effects whatsoever and simply feel, well, normal.

For the first several weeks the only side effect for me was what I can best term as a "slow flow" at times, nothing like "dribbling" or difficulty, just slow. However the Rapaflo I was on helped that, and again after several weeks I was off the Rapaflo and things came back to normal. I never experienced the urgency nor any pain - something I attribute to the practitioner's experience and skill along with LDR BT being a great choice for treatment.

George: "Walk", walk from now up until BT, when you get home from being released to eliminate post op nausea, build up to four miles if you and docs approve, when you feel the fake poop sensations, when you feel the wired to uncomfortable sensations, and walk some more when ever you have the time.

I can't add anything to the excellent advice you have already received except to walk when the very manageable SEs might happen. You have chosen a great route and be sure to let us know when you have reached the other side.
