Testosterone - PSA - And Working Out

A month ago I was freakin out because my labs showed a Testosterone rise from 120 to 570 IN ONE MONTH. And there was a corresponding PSA rise from 5.0 to 11.58. I was definitely thinking that my HT break was going to be very short lived.

In that month between tests I had been working with a trainer and doing some pretty good strength training to try and gain back some of the muscle I had lost while on Lupron. When I discussed the two rises with my trainer on the day I received the results he said that training would increase Testosterone levels.

So I embarked on my own clinical trial. I quit training the same day that I got those test results. And the only thing I have been doing is the everyday chores and building things for my new outdoor kitchen.

Today I received the new test results, exactly one month to the day.

New Testosterone 487 and PSA up to 11.85. Testosterone decrease of 83 and PSA increase of just .27.

I also just completed the clinical trials I reported about the other day. The scans show no changes except regression to the lymph nodes that are involved. The scans were done in January before I skipped the Feb Lupron shot and repeated the first week of July.

So now I am totally confused. Did not training really reduce the Testosterone and minimize the PSA climb OR WHAT?

I am meeting with my Oncologist tomorrow and will tax him with this information.

However, if my PSA is going to level off for a while, I will happily stay on the HT break. I am also going to forgo the strength training. I will find some other way to spend the money. WIN-WIN maybe.

Hi Sonny,
It's been a while. I'm just happy to see your PSA below where you were on S1216. It's very interesting to see your T levels as high as they are. After 3.5 years on HT mine never regained to a normal level. I have to supplement testosterone which tends to make me nauseous. Many guys I know that stop HT have a similar issue as me. Today my T levels are well under 300.

It's all very confusing. You are asking questions that I have wondered about.

Due to a rotator cuff issue, I have stopped the weight training for now.I suspect you will not get a definitive response from your doctors. However, since you are off HT, it is less of a problem going off weight training.

I started P/T for my shoulder and she said I could actually resume the training, but reduce the weight.
