My dad had his esophagus scoped today. He has been losing weight and having difficulty swallowing as well severe acid. The found a mass in the lower third near his stomach. His esophagus was 90% blocked. Biopsy results on Friday. I am sad. Todd

Todd, my best wishes to you and your dad. I've been in that wait before. I hope it will prove to be concern for something insignificant..

Todd -
Absolutely prayers for your dad (and for you and your loved ones, too).
I know firsthand that esophagus issues can be troublesome, having dealt with an esophageal ulcer a couple of years ago. But proper diagnosis and the right medicine got me squared away, and here's hoping the same will be true for your dad.
Best wishes!

Todd - Prayers for your dad, you and your family.
Someone sent this to me yesterday. It arrived at just the moment I needed it. I hope it helps you, too.

I talked to mom last night. She felt like getting drunk. They have been married 51 years. Dad is 73. I didn't tell her but the mortality rate for esophageal cancer is 0 at 4 years. The picture of it is ugly. Dad has had acid reflux for years. The tumor is near his stomach. I feel sick but have not lost hope.

Todd, praying for you and the family.
We have some experience with what your dad is facing. My mom had severe esophageal issues in her last couple of years, but despite many years of acid reflux it never did become cancerous. She had to take pretty high doses of proton-pump-inhibitor, but as long as she did they were able to get her where she could swallow again. She had episodes where she could not even swallow water, it got so bad.
Praying for your dad that perhaps this can be managed medically. We here may jump to cancer readily since we're all dealing with it, but it's just possible this may be something else.
Hang in there, my good friend.

Todd, I'm so sorry to hear about
your dad's issues. And it sounds like you've had to deal with much more than your fair share of difficult deaths and hard emotions recently. It can get very hard to focus on anything else, but you need to look really hard and try to find those small, beautiful moments right now. I'm praying for you and your dad (and the whole family), not only for strength and healing, but for grace and ease in your hearts. Know we are here as a soft brace behind your back when you feel weak.

Reverse heredity is in your dad's favor. Sure he is a fighter like you, but praying for both of you nonetheless.

Todd, It`s hard to say all the right things at times like this. I`ll just say I have said a prayer for your Dad. May the good Lord provide strength and courage to get you and your family through this difficult time.
