Hello, Olmanhunk ~
Treatments are a whirlwind, to be sure.
I kept teaching full-time during my series of TAXOTERE chemotherapy infusions and then later during my series of 45 radiation treatments. I needed to stay focused on my teaching, and that carried me through treatments.
I hope you can stay on track with your chemotherapy infusions. That's a long day, with your 90 minute commute, each way. Don't be afraid to make a couple of stops to stretch your legs, along the way.
Sounds like your port will be helpful for infusions. For whatever reason, my oncologist felt like I didn't need one.
For labs now, I typically have blood drawn from my hand. I drink extra water for a couple of days before lab visits and "windmill" my arms beforehand in the clinic restroom, and then soak my hands in warm, running water in the lab sink. This protocol works far better for me.
Let us know if the carboplatin component gets approved for your "chemotherapy cocktail."
You spoke of a new trial & that sounds promising.
Has your medical team considered PLUVICTO (Lutetium-177) as a "next step" treatment? Certainly a potential topic to discuss with your medical team.
Above all else, I want you to know I am mindful of you, as your treatments continue.
During treatments, I adopted the mantra of "one day at a time" and that really helped me. I discovered I just needed to focus on the next day, and center my thoughts on that.
Keep us posted and let us know how you're faring ~
