Hi All,

New around here. My background:

35 year old here. I began testosterone therapy (with HCG) in March/April of this year due to fatigue, lowering sex drive, weaker erections, losing muscle, etc. Doctor did DRE there and did not feel anything. He did not spend a lot of time feeling for things, though, just checking size of prostate. PSA was 0.7.

Fast forward to July. Physician Assistant does my DRE. Finds something, recommends me seeing a urologist. PSA still 0.7.

Urologist feels something. Biopsy is today. URO thinks that the chance of it being anything is less than 10% based on PSA, age, etc. I'm hoping this is the end (for now) of this journey, but I'd like to know any feedback/expected issues coming out of the biopsy, regardless if anything is found.

Expect that you will piss blood for a few days, and your ejaculate will be disco lowered for a few weeks, going from bright red, to dark brown, to lighter shades of brown.
You shouldn't have much pain, maybe a little discomfort the first day or two.

.7 is not indicative of Prostate cancer, on the other hand some aggressive strains give off very little PSA. Still, you have your age going for you, so I would yhink high chance of a negative result

I do hope you're just passing through here. We have some young guys here, but off the top of my head, I don't think any 35-year-olds...

I'm hopeful that one of our smarter guys can weigh in and say if a biopsy is always warranted after feeling something on a DRE. My general feeling is that at your age and with such a low PSA there's no reason to have a biopsy unless feeling something on a DRE *always* warrants doing it. My feeling is your uro is a bit trigger happy, but I'm ready to be corrected if I'm off-base on that.

Benign nodules, often cysts, in the prostate are quite common.

I hope you are getting a periprostatic nerve block to prevent pain. There is increasing antibiotic resistance, so be particularly aware of any fever following the biopsy.

Some guys have a little rectal bleeding, sometimes blood in the urine, always blood in the semen.

Thanks all. Biopsy complete. The antibiotic shot they gave me hurt worst than the actual biopsy.

Doctor did say that based on what he saw on the ultrasound that things looked normal. That makes me a bit hopeful that it will come back negative.

I'd be very surprised to learn you have anything other than a sore backside.

Do let us know what the pathology report says,

The antibiotic injection site was sore for weeks afterwards. Best of luck to you, let us know if they find anything.

now that is a success story....congrats!

Be sure to stay on top of it though....get regular checkups to just stay on top of it. I wish i would have started at 35 or 40 with them....

Thanks all. I will be keeping a close eye on it. Already know that in 6 months I will go back in for a follow-up and then see how often from there the URO will want to check.

I did learn last night that my father is being watched very closely or it. He is 66 and his PSA is approaching that level where they may do a biopsy soon. I know his father had it but late in life (mid 80's). He's 93 now. Regardless, with some family history, this will not be something I take lightly moving forward.
