PSA Test at Age 60 as a Tool to Evaluate Treatment, or Non-Treatment Options

This study suggests that if a man at age 60, has a PSA level of 1 or less, he is at very low risk of getting aggressive prostate cancer. Has anyone with this profile considered this study in making a treatment/non-treatment decision and has anyone's urologist cited this study in discussing treatment options?

gary, certainly a valuable contribution to the PC library. For the vast majority in this forum, it doesn't apply. Most of us are (or were) well above 1.0 long before we turned 60.

Before diagnosis, PSA is NEVER used to evaluate treatment or non-treatment...A PSA of <1.0 would be considered wonderful for a 60 year old ..

Thanks for posting this, Gary. It is too late for most folks on this board, but it is another worthwhile piece of research. It can help calm down some undiagnosed guys who needlessly worry about having PCa.

Interesting, at 45 my PSA was 1.1
