inguinal hernia repair after robotic surgery?

Can an inguinal hernia repair be done via Laparoscopic Surgery subsequent to robotic prostate removal?

At this point, it's an academic question.

Going to doctor today to investigate groin pain. Probably strain, but I do know that previous MRIs have specified I have a small fatty inguinal hernia. But, no lumps showing.

Anyway, does anyone know the answer?

Yes it can be, and some believe it always should be because inguinal hernia rates are increased following RP. It may interfere with PLND, however.

My husband is having his hernia repaired later this month. He consulted with 3 surgeons - one at MSKCC, one at Mount Sinai in NYC, and one at Weill Cornell in NYC. They all advised against laparoscopic surgery due to scar tissue from his prostate removal surgery. He is having it done via open at Cornell.

I was told it couldn't be done because of the previous robot surgery so I had open.
I cant remember what it was like so it couldn't have been that bad,

mine is also an open surgery, just a 2 ins cut, the surgeon also advise no Laparoscopic Surgery.

I thought I did read that it has to be open post-robotic.
However, I think they also do robotic hernia repairs these days. Not sure if they can do that after a RPP.

Anyway, fortunately for me, I have a pulled groin, as I suspected -- not a hernia as I feared!

So, for now, academic!

Mel, I was very glad to hear that you had a groin pull diagnosis. One less thing to worry about

Ironically, I am having groin pain that started yesterday, got a little worse after a three mile walk. basically my left nut and surrounding area. I'm just assuming it's a strain, if it continues for a week I'll have it checked by my PCP for hernia.
Funny how perspective is everything, because after RALP I wouldn't have one ounce of apprehension If i needed open hernia surgery.

When I mentioned I was going to wait until next week, you said I should have it checked out right away.

See, we are somewhat similar.

(My wife made me go -- she said otherwise I would be fretting about this all weekend).

No, it had been bothering me for 1-2 days.

But I had been having leg pains and I was still afraid of a blood clot, especially when the pain moved to the groin

I remember that now, and when you mentioned the blood clot idea, I think that's what moved me to say get it checked,
