Sit to pee...? Why?

Standing to pee is an important mystery of our cultural heritage as manly men. It is mostly our wives who find the reasons mysterious. So, yes, I stand to pee.

And actually, since I had my AUS installed I am even more convinced of the superiority of that position for micturation. The control that allows me to pee is located just behind my right testicle and is difficult to access when I am sitting on it. In order to pee sitting down I have to ... um ... well, suffice it to say that the process is unhandy and occasionally messy -- messier, in fact, than when I just stand, take aim, and pee in the general direction of the porcelain as God intended.

Man, I hate it when Google says, "common in the elderly!" I knew before my RP that I had a problem with urinary retention. The urologist's nurse said I was retaining about 120ml in my bladder after voiding. Sitting improves the situation and apparently reduces the residual. I mentioned sitting as a preference and got no answer at the doctors office. By asking here, I see its not a common thing already. Maybe some Drano will help...haha.

Need a "Both" option. I prefer to stand, but in the middle of the night I rather sit so I don't have to turn on the lights.

After 30+ years of wife complaining of errant shots I have succumbed to sitting on the toilet to pee. There is definatley less cleaning required by me, who is now the primary bathroom cleaner. And so it goes...........

I stand pat.

Well dang, that advantage(no lights needed) had not even occurred to me. Maybe a special advantage in an unfamiliar and dark motel room while trying not to wake my wife? I will keep that in mind.

Is there also an emptying advantage? Even though the one advantage for me to an RP is that I have peed like a race horse ever since, I still have always felt it cuts off a little before finishing, leading to a whole lot of shaking and such going on, trying to get the last few drops out to avoid smeckle drops(as some call it), or maybe even occasionally a slight bit more than a few drops.

Gary's medonc actually recommended he sit to aid in voiding at one of his very first visits. This was at the beginning of HT tx, so he still had some testicular heft happening. His very first trip to the loo, whilst still at the DR office resulted in some frigid teabagging.
Pretty sure the medonc set him up. And giggled behind closed doors with his staff when he saw Gary headed to head.

One of the good outcomes of my RP is that my stream and pressure are great. I can now knock the bark off a red oak. I joyfully stand.

I Sit, you can read while sitting down.

Always sit at home. Just seemed to be more efficient for emptying for me post catheter, so I stuck with it.

Funny, I've wandered into the bathroom at night and plopped down in the dark to find that my wife had left the lid up. From cleaning the night before yes, but still, you've got to be kidding

Ha, I hate it when i almost fall in at night due to the seat being up.

DH was always so good about keeping the seat down. I believe he was sitting usually. Certainly the bathroom stays too clean for him to be standing. It's something I've always deeply appreciated ( I think it's got him quite a few gratitude BJs through the years too) However after surgery he stands more often and I've fallen in a couple times. I'm so happy to have him around he still gets the BJs anyway:)
