Pratoman,
Sure. I was told about
it maybe 15 years ago by a trainer. It worked for me. I had tried niacin and I was training for triathlons but nothing helped. I have a long family history of bad cholesterol and early heart attacks (50's), so I tried everything to increase HDL.
Currently, I am pretty much a vegan, and I also take a lot of fish oil (for triglycerides). I also take Lipitor. HDL is in now in the low to mid 40s (was in low to mid 30s). BMI average (6'0"; 170 lbs). I am 69 y.o.
Here are a couple of articles concerning weight lifting and HDL that I just googled;
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3824017healthyliving.azcentral.com/cardio-weights-raising-hdl-4308.htmlI can not tell you why weights worked (for me), and maybe weights do not work for everyone, but folks who worry about
low HDL might want to give weights a try. So far I have outlived my father and his father and grandfather by from 10 to 15 years (knock on wood).
Hope this helps.
Ps. Oh yeah, I consume one drink a day (usually wine), sometimes two .... I read somewhere a dink a day helps HDL ... or maybe it was an apple!?
