Question

I was never on Zoladex but I was on Lupron and Firmagon, both of which are also GnRH agonists and very similar drugs. In my experience, both personally and in hanging around with other men on hormone therapy at our GFMPH gatherings where a fair amount of alcohol is consumed, the answer to your question is mostly no -- hormone therapy drugs don't seem to cause particular problems with moderate alcohol consumption.

There are a number of side effects of hormone therapy that it seems reasonable that alcohol could exacerbate -- hot flashes, brain fog, forgetfulness, weeping at chick-flick movies -- but most guys I know don't find that hormones much change their reactions to alcohol at all.

Zytiga shut down my liver, at which point I had to back off alcohol in general. Once we figured out it was the Zytiga, I stopped taking it.

Check the side effects. Casodex, Zytiga, and my Uloric all can have liver impact.

I was also on Lupron instead of Zoladex, but no problems or issues with me until we added Zytiga to my HT regimen, which impacted my liver function. But we cut the Zytiga dose in half, so like you, I could continue my red wine consumption. A man must have priorities after all...
