Hello all,

I am curious if any of you have been involved in the trial of the ovarian cancer medicine Olaparib used for treatment of PCa.

Have any of you been prescribed the drug off label for PCa?

I'm not yet but my brother and I gathered our family cancer history. He spoke with his local MO about it. She thinks there's enough history to convince insurance to pay for the next step, which apparently is genetic counciling

Meyers indicated he would support us in this if we are positive BRCA-2

I'm curious. What kind of results is this drug supposed to be producing? Is it for castrate resistant patients only?

Also can one get genetic testing through any oncologist?

That is a good question. Where can you get tested? I guess I will be searching on the net for that one.

JohnKeats had spectacular results from Veliparib (ABT 188) a related PARP inhibitor. You can find his comments with the search bar.

Myers described a pre-publication paper on a clinical trial olaparib when I saw him a few weeks ago. 15 of 16 essentially done with cancer. He also described one patient who was in hospice with cancer in lungs & liver who was planning to go back to work 2 weeks after treatment.

FWIW, Myers seems to think an eventual cure will come from this path, rather than the targeted radiation "smart bomb" treatments

Sorry I never replied to this. My brother was negative so I never had the test done. Odds were slim I would have it if he didn't. It's a blood test.
