"Perhaps some residual radiation from my IMRT treatment affected the hardware."
Andrew –
Yes, we're having a good laugh about
this, but there actually may be something to the idea that, aside from having had IMRT, some people can actually have an actual physical, and negative, effect on computers they come close to due to their "electrical aura."
There was a woman in my library department when I was still working, her name was Louise, who, virtually every time she was around a workstation, it would fail. Her own workstation had to be replaced several times. It happened so many times that the rest of us in the department realized that something odd was happening. And when she left, a few months before I retired, the rash of computer problems happening in the department did indeed drop substantially. So it sure seemed to us that there was some kind of cause and effect.
But what? The article linked below claims that, while all people generate electrical fields around them, due to electrochemical processes going on inside of us all the time, the fields of some people are actually strong enough to interfere with the electrical fields of machines around them, such as computers, causing problems.
From the article:
It is believed (and seen and experienced by many) that your aura can interfere, interrupt, and even affect and break computers and electronic devices. For some this happens routinely, and they go through device after device, with each one breaking for no apparent reason. For others, the problem is experienced intermittently, like when their emotions are running high, they’re overly stressed out, or when they are sick or run down. And yet others still will never experience this phenomenon at all.And a suggested solution:
You can also correct the problem by keeping particular stones or crystals around your desk, to help mitigate the effects of your electric field. Some good crystals to use for this purpose are: black tourmaline, tourmalated quartz, hematite, smokey quartz, or unakite. When you are experiencing effects, either wear the stones, or place them on your desk while you’re working.(Sounds like computer VooDoo to me!).
Not to suggest that you are one of those folks, Andrew, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt if you want to spring a few bucks for the aforementioned crystals and wear them on a string around your neck or something? Or maybe wear electrically grounded house slippers? <grin>
Any of you computer pros here on the forum care to comment on this supposed problem?
