I know you are new to PC and new to this forum. I suggest you do a bit of real research on the topic of PC, its diagnosis, and treatment, before you promulgate your ungrounded opinions as if they were scientific, medical, or mathematical facts.

Pangloss. I doubt there is a Woody Allen movie I have not seen. Nothing Woody Allen said in a movie or elsewhere excuses your comment. You could simply say you were out of line and say your are sorry. That would be an apology.

Ah yes, the line is from Manhattan. I know it sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it until you said Woody Allen. Still, it's such an obscure reference (even though it was a popular film at the time) that you can imagine why so many here are upset. Always best to stay away from such references.

Re the whole issue of PSA, whether you're extrapolating or not, I don't think you can focus too much on that number right now. There's just a ton of fluctuation in PSA--I don't think you can hang your hat on that.

I do think your best bets are to further explore AS and also talk to some experienced ROs, particularly a good brachy program since you're interested in that. Most urologists don't know much about any radiation techniques and if they do, they likely aren't up to speed on the latest advances. Good luck to you.

I agree an apology was probably due. But actually, that sounds like Woody Allen to me and I actually think it is a quote from one of his movies, maybe "Manhattan"? So if his intent was to try to wise crack like Woody Allen, though not a wise move at this forum, I do think it somewhat takes a lot of the sting out of the apparently extremely offensive OP. Perhaps the intent was not for quite as much offense- or even none- as was perceived? And I say that as a Zionist. (don't know if I should have said that here, I'll soon know! LOL!)
Or, I could be totally wrong about what Pangloss intended.

thanks for the opinion. here are a few more facts:
1) doc says my prostate is rather small...30 mm? Rad Onc says that makes me a good candidate for brachy.
2) doc says my prostate has no visible tumors or growths. My only cancer is microscopic. My ignorance: i thought all cancer had to be in the form of a lump. I have no lumps or growths.
3) Urologist thinks RALP is the "gold standard" treatment

I see you had a RALP in 2014. Good luck with everything. At 15 months, from what I've read, you can expect further improvement!!!

Surgeons think RALP is gold standard because that is what they do. An unfortunate term coined by Dr. Walsh in his book.

The crazy thing about PC is that it IS asymptomatic until it's way to late to do anything about it.

You haven't said where you're located. The two key things are (a) get a good second opinion on your biopsy and (b) get yourself to a top 10 center of excellence. PC is a tricky beast to treat, and getting the very best people you can find involved is a big part of a good outcome.

Frankly, Pangloss, I am truly amazed that you would have the utter gall to bring this up again.

I'm sure I can find some clever esoteric quotes that used the "N" word. That doesn't mean I'll refer to my physician that way.

Your quote was an insult to many. Perhaps you didn't realize that when you posted, but the responses in this thread should have communicated that to you.

Rather than trying to weasel out of it by trying to make light of it, you really should have apologized without any additional provisos whatsoever and then move on from that. You were flat out wrong, using the term.

One time, okay maybe you lack common sense or just made an error. Bringing it up again, I guess I'll conclude it's the former

Could a urologist continue to make 300 grand a year if he told you to change your diet?
Why are the number of cancer cases in America exploding?

How many needless prostate surguries have been performed? Even the medical establishement says "lots".

Do ALL the research. I have PC (see my post) and I have, so far, avoided conventional treatments and my PSA numbers are declining. But I will say, in my case, it's still too early to claim victory with alternative treatments.

You are unbelievable! You are offensive in the first post and almost confrontational about recognized protocols and doctors in the second. You seem to not be looking for knowledge and information but rather wanting to distribute "alternative" advice here. You might want to listen a while before you jump in with both feet- wait you have already stuck one foot in your mouth! Your journey is just beginning.

This is serious for everyone here. What you say and the implied influence you create with your words can have impact on one's decision making. Ultimately, YOU could bring real physical harm if they follow wrong advice- even death.

For someone to come here looking for advice, to make such a comment, and then upon realizing that it offended so many, to offer up nothing more than a comment that we are thin skinned, is amazing. It's a an unfortunate loss for the original poster.

I'm sure that it's only the culture of this forum, which is a culture of offering help and support, that has prevented this thread from being locked.

Panglos I just got a biopsy on Dec 12 2015 and it came back Benign for all the core samples. I still have PCa because I never had it removed and my PSA was 10.4. I am currently taking Bactrim to see if I have an infection and will be retested at the end of January with another PSA test. I am a Type ll diabetic which means I am on a restricted diet. I also have problem with gluten so I do not eat any products that contain wheat, rye, or barley. As of September I have added all red meat, chicken, turkey, dairy, and eggs to the list of things I do not eat. I can not say at this time if getting off meat products, dairy, and eggs will help but I will give it a year or so. I do eat fish.....Halibut, Salmon,Ling Cod, and rock fish.

Pangloss, if you want added advice or comments re your case may I suggest you start a new thread. People on this site are incredibly giving and incredibly knowledgeable. You may learn a lot and you may get great info that will help you manage our shared disease.
