Psa rise after radiation

I have a three month psa test in Jan coming up, finished up radiation in Sept, had a psa in three weeks after and had a small increase, wonder if anyone had that experience , an increase after radiation then a decrease.

Often referred to as the radiation bounce. Happens to a lot of folks. It can take a year or two to reach "nadir" or the lowest PSA after RT. It's an anxiety generator, but not something to get too concerned about.

Think of it this way: the RT just killed ten of thousands of PC cells. As the die they release all their remaining PSA into your system caused the count to spike. Over time this PSA will flush itself out and you PSA will drop.

Thanks Andy, i think i asked this once before but not sure, you are right, an anxiety game....At lease all scans were clear anyhow.....

Mine bounced up higher in two tests (see my signature) - rattled me like no one's business. Then it went down to its lowest ever.

Hopefully yours is also just a normal bounce.

Did you have SRT after failed RP? Could the rise in PSA actually have been between your last PSA test before SRT and the start of the SRT (and not after SRT)?
Did you have any HT before SRT? HT lowers PSA and when the effect of the hormones goes away, the PSA can rise.

No, had Devinci op in Jan 2012, then last June psa rose, had 39 radiation treatments ending in Sept 2015, psa before radiation was 1.0, after radiation was 1.89.....T2CN1 M0, bone, MRI and Cat scan all clear, lymph nodes all normal. pre op psa 4.82. Radiation was done with Linear external.
