How long did it take Lupron to work for you?

How long did it take you to reach undetectable levels with Lupron after radiation?

Hi Tom,

I took Lupron/Eligard one month before starting radiation. In about 110 days after my first shot my PSA went from 59 to undetectable.

It looks like your PSA went from 38 to 4 in about 90 days. What is it now? Have you reached undetectable?

Looking at your dx, it looks like we had similar risk levels and pursued basically the same initial treatments on a similar timeline. I am now more than five years out from initial treatment and am still pulling undetectable PSA every three months. Hopefully you will, also.

I think I started Lupron in mid April and my PSA in June was 0. That was in 2011.

It was 3-4 months for me, but I was on Lupron/Casodex/Zytiga for comparison purposes.

I had the same treatment as you--how are things going? I have the same question as JNF--what's your PSA now?

My PSA was checked in mid April about 10 days after a biopsy, and it peaked at about 9.7 then. Of course, mine also is a G9 with dominant type 5, so the cancer tissue wasn't putting out as much PSA as it would have with less messed up cells. I figure based on estimated tumor volume it should have been 20 or more if it had been a G7.

First Lupron shot was May 1, 2013. By mid June it had fallen to about 1, so uro onc added Casodex. They were looking for <0.5 at the start of radiotherapy, if I recall correctly.

Started IGRT about July 1, 2013.

After IGRT at the end of August 2013, PSA was undetectable (<0.1), and has been there ever since (yay!).

I've been on Lupron and Casodex ever since, with that 3 year sentence due to wrap up at the end of March.

I just had it checked again last week and it's now undetectable. My last shot was December 28th. Thanks for the replies.

First Lupron injection in Jan. 2015; reached undetectable in September 2015....so 8 months.

Age 64 PSA 43 10/14 lStage IV 3Ta n1 m1 bonet met lymph nodes
2nd shot 6/15 3rd shot PSA .3 ,12/15 Radiation 45days
No pain next lupron will be 6/16
