Is my bicalutamide prescription wrong?

I'm going to question the RO today. He prescribed 50mg bicalutamide 3X daily. Started yesterday and felt like crap all day. Could this be an excessive dose?

I've personally never heard of that....but I haven't been around as long as most. I thought the standard dosage was 50mg ONCE a day...


I did find this as a recommended dosage:

You would want to review that with your oncologist. I'm a bit surprised he did not review the dosage with you.

Mine was 50mg per day in tandem with Lupron, but it stopped working, so moved on to Zytiga. But it can be given at higher doses, so my advice would be to ask the docs.

They may be aggressive because of the bladder neck involvement.

You said RO - are you getting ready for ART / SRT? Do you have a medical oncologist watching all of the interactions?

I've heard the same. 150mg/day as mono-therapy, in other words you aren't also receiving injected Lupron, Eligard, or anything else like those.

I've been on Lupron injections, plus bicalutamide at 50mg/day, which is a "normal" so-called ADT2 regimen (two simultaneous types of androgen deprivation therapy).

Oh, and the feeling like crap part? Yeah, that happens when you have no testosterone. Megace (megesterol acetate) can help some if you start getting hot flashes. Otherwise, we just kind of suck it up, and figure it's worth it to knock down the much-worse-problem of cancer cells.

Strange prescription imho . I'm on ADT 3 and don't feel like crap. But I'm no doctor.
