Xtandi no help at all

Aw Ziggy, that absolutely stinks! I am so sorry. I have seen a lot of posts and trials that using xtandi and zytiga after chemo might be the best approach. Pushing for chemo is probably a good idea. The chemo might help your back pain too. Also, you could ask about xofigo for bone pain. Do you have any scans scheduled?
You sure have had a lot to deal with lately.

Ziggy, I recently showed with bone mets for the first time ever in eight years. I had a week of radiation to the mets (three spots along my spine but not in the cord). Pain is greatly reduced and a scan done Monday shows that we may have missed a spot and I have some pain in the area that was missed. I only take the pain pill before bed if it is really bothering me. Will be seeing my oncologists for advice on what else to do. By the way the doctor said the original mets that were radiated had resolved. Pretty darn fast for being three weeks out from radiation. Sort of unbelievable actually but who am I to argue. But maybe so since they just sort of bloomed over a period of two weeks to begin with.

By the way he also said that Zytiga may not work if Xtandi does not and vice versa.

In my case it was the same machine (Varian Truebeam) and method (IMRT/IGRT) as originally used. I could see the collimeters moving and shaping up for the tumor and a green light on my chest indicating the area of treatment.

By the way my pain was also in my left side rib cage top to bottom and front to back. Today I am pain free for the most part just three weeks after treatment. The thing is to locate the mets with the scans. I had CT, nuclear bone, and MRI. The radiation on my neck gave me a real sore throat and it swelled up to almost closed. I could only eat soup and drink. But, thankfully, that is fully resolved after three weeks. Good side was I lost 8 lbs.

Ziggy…your battle and your spirit as you fight it is remarkable…I pray for the relief of your pain. I seriously do not no how you and other men do it? I talk a good game… its one thing to have faith when things are good…in my case they are beyond good and quite frankly that has been the norm of my life. Never hear you complain in a self-serving way….Like the good son and the prodigal it is the good son who is ignored {I understand the dynamic of why that is but still} You present quite a template for men who are in this continuing battle. You've given XTANDI an honest try, so hoping that ZYTIGA works some wonders for you --- I'm on ZYTIGA myself right now, as we speak --- we all realize that each case is different and effectiveness can vary --- soon enough, you will know whether or not ZYTIGA is attacking the fire-breathing dragon ...

I hope that they eventually find a "next step" medication that reaches above and beyond the powers of XTANDI and ZYTIGA --- I'm sure that represents the Holy Grail in research development right now --- or fail-proof strategies that can restore the effectiveness of ZYTIGA and XTANDI ---

I'm glad you are giving ZYTIGA an honest trial run right now --- then you will know for certain whether or not it is effective in your case ... hoping for a positive outcome for you when you receive your next lab numbers.

Yes, I agree with your thinking about chemotherapy as a viable future consideration for knocking down your PSA level, looking down TREATMENT TRAIL --- along with many others here, I've undergone chemo treatments as an additional weapon in the fight ...
