Severe pelvic/genital area and leg swelling as a symptom of the cancer

Hi,
I posted this along with my Dad's metastatic diagnosis post, but I thought I would post separately to see if anyone else would notice. Has any one heard of prostate cancer or mets to the lymph nodes causing severe lymphedema to groin, scrotum, penis and entire leg?? This was an initial symptom and not caused by any past treatments. Finally one doctor has said that this is very rare and unusual, he has never seen it. He is a specialist at John Hopkins so we're assuming he has seen a lot. He is not sure it is the prostate cancer causing this and that his lymph nodes weren't swollen enough on the CT scan to cause all the edema. His bladder looked fine as well. Sounds like the doctors are stumped and any research we have done has come up empty, so we were just wondering if anyone has heard of or experienced this situation? Most doctors have ignored this symptom or pushed it aside, so we are happy a doctor is finally taking notice as this being unusual. Thanks

My dads background. 64 with no previous health issues. Just diagnosed last week with confirmed mets to lymph nodes, waiting for results of bone scan. PSA 38, Gleason 8.

You know, I had and am having similar symptoms. But I just had a pelvic CT scan and bone scan, both clear, plus initial low psa of 2.5. I am going for the 3tmri next week which I hope is also clear. I have wondered the same thing, that pelvic lymph node activity is causing this. Of course, this is my feeling, nothing official.

I mentioned this to my urologist last meeting, that I had a fullness and dull ache in my groin area on both sides, plus some minor upper leg pain, both sides. Also, i have some minor perineal pain on occassion, again a felling of fullness. It actually feels bloated, but nothing is visible nor can anything abnormal be felt. This seems to be constant throughout the day. I wanted to tell him that I am not imagining this. He told me that, based upon the information in front of him and his experience with this, that is not the prostate cancer causing this discomfort.

So, I am moving forward with my treatment journey. Next week I will make my decision after the 3tmri. I hope I can move forward without further complications. However, this dull pain and discomfort worries me.
