Here I am, about
10 months post DaVinci, with 100 posts on a cancer board I never wanted to be a part of. Having said that, you guys (and gals) have been amazing and a great source of knowledge and support. Thank you!! Now that I have 2 "<" under my belt (and hoping for my third next week), my focus is still on recovery.
The urinary thing for me has been as good as I could have ever asked. No issues and a big bag of Depends that I still need to get rid of. I am grateful, and I know not everyone gets off this easy. Then there's my "work in progress", sex... As is in my signature, I had nerve sparing one side, and partial sparing on the other. Doc says he saved "about
half" of the partial side. I can probably get about
half way there of what it would take to be "normal" on my own. Doc says he believes I will get there eventually, with the PED5 of my choice. One can hope. Not there yet. So in the meantime, Ive tried alprostadil (EDEX). Worked like jet fuel, but whoa on the ache part! Then there's the little fact about
$80.00/shot and no insurance coverage. So, I have a compounding pharmacy that my clinic works with, and my clinic is very cautious on compounding pharmacies. We're still trying to get that dialed in with mixed results. Still dealing with the ache, and I really hate the shots, and its not working as good as EDEX. At least Ive got the cost down to around $5/shot. But as Ive said, I really hate the shots. So far its my only option, and i have to take my Doc's word that I'll get there eventually...
Again, thank you all for your advice & support over these last 10 months.

Once you get the correct does things will will good. I am 52 and right now it is also the only thing thing that works. I guess the best part this is i can just keep going and going until my wife says.....I can't take it anymore. I don't wish PC on anyone and it is truly a life changer.

A couple quick thoughts:
If you are getting an ache from the Trimix talk to your clinic about
switching to a Bimix formula. I believe that alprostadil is what causes the ache in some men and Bimix is made without alprostadil.
What gauge needles are you using? When I started with injections I was given 27 gauge needles which I found a little uncomfortable. After conferring with my urologist I switched to a 31 gauge needle (smaller/thinner) which is much easier to use.
There is a learning curve with injections but once you get the dose and procedure figured out your anxiety about
injections will improve.
Your recovery sounds great, keep those "<" signs coming.....

Thanks fuelguy, I will. I'm not sure on the gauge of the needles. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing they are somethin close to railroad spikes.

Northern,
It takes time! Since you have all those nerves spared give them time to re-grow. I'm 2 and 1/2 year post surgery and things are looking "up". Meanwhile, take it easy and enjoy the looooong hard-ons! I still have some Trimix in the fridge and .08 or .06 keeps me going for 60-90 min.
And, like Fuelguy, I changed my needles and moved my injection site more to the middle and sometimes to the base of the penis. Its injection and 5 minutes of pressure on the site and you’re good to go!
Enjoy!
