According to this study, the metastasis occurred almost exclusively to men on AS with Gleason score 7:

"Although the intermediate risk group was at higher risk for metastasis, those with Gleason score 6 and prostate specific antigen greater than 10 ng/ml were not at increased risk for metastasis. Metastasis developed in only 2 patients with Gleason score 6 and neither had surgical pathology grading."

This indicates two things:

1. If a man has GS7, he should be very vigilant if he intends to use AS

2. If a man is diagnosed with GS6, he should stay on AS as long as any future biopsies remain GS6. This seems to be true even if his PSA grows above 10
